    I have been a CIM member since January 2002 and received my CIM designation in May 2004.  In October 2013 I received my Professional Manager’s degination (P.Mgr).  For the past 23 years I have worked at Capital Health in a variety of Financial and Decision Support roles, most recently I took the position of Business Manager for Cancer Care, Transplant and Acute Inpatient Services where I support the Director and the management team to achieve the portfolios strategic goals for financial analysis, sustainability and accountability as well as developing business cases and analysis tools to support this work.  I  am involved in work with private industry in customer service as well as being a Mortgage Agent  with More Than Mortgages.  I have been a CIM Board member since 2012, and also sit on the Board of Directors for More Than Mortgages.  I live in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia with my husband Sean, our two children Chelsea and Patrick, my in-laws Evelyn and Ken and a number of fur bearing “kids”.  I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, music and relaxing at our cottage on Isle Madame, Cape Breton.

Katherine is the Past President of the CIM Maritime Chapter having served as President from 2013-2016.  She has been a CIM member since 1992.  She is currently Operations Manager for the law firm Taylor MacLellan Cochrane in Kentville, Nova Scotia.  She is responsible for the smooth and effective operation of the office and the long term business health of the firm, including all aspects of Personnel Management, Staff Training, Systems and Procedures, Accounting and Finance, IT Infrastructure, Security and Facilities.  Her background includes over twenty-five plus years’ experience as a manager in the legal industry.  She is a member of the  Association of Legal Administrators and the Canadian Institute o Management.  She serves on two local Boards in her community which include the Murdoch Smith Library Board of Trustees, and the Port Williams Community Centre Board of Trustees.

  Wanda Balsor, C.I.M., P.Mgr, C.Mgr., CHSC, HSP

    Wanda is Certified in Management, Certified in Professional Management,  Certified Health & Safety Consultant and a Health & Safety Professional.  She is a Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) Member, a Member of the CSSE National Award Committee, Vice Chapter Chair and (past) Chapter Chair of the CSSE Western Nova Scotia Chapter.  She is also a CIM member and a Director on the CIM Maritime Board.  Wanda is presently employed with Annapolis Valley Air Management as a Health & Safety Professional (CHSC) and formerly employed with ACA Cooperative Ltd. for 25 years as the Health & Safety Director.

    I have my diploma in Business Administration – Accounting from the Nova Scotia Community College; Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Tourism and Hospitality Management as well as General Management from Mount Saint Vincent University; my designation in Management from the Canadian Institute of Management and my Personal Training Specialist Certificate from Canfitpro.  My work experience has involved accounting, finance and event management in the private and public sector. I enjoy classical singing, fitness and cooking.

  Peter MacDonald, CSM
    Peter has worked at St Francis Xavier University for the past 30+ years. He worked in maintenance as a power engineer refrigeration 2nd class and certified carpenter. He was active in the labour movement for 25 years  (CAW) holding local union executive board positions including president and was a member of the national human rights committee. During this time, he gained extensive experience in all aspects of labour relations. Peter has spent numerous hours facilitating topics such as collective bargaining, human rights, dispute resolution, social justice, public speaking and leadership. In 2006, Peter received a Certificate of Achievement from the NS Human Rights Commission, Train the Trainer in conducting diversity workshops. In 2007, Peter took a position in management and successfully completed the CIM supervisory management program in 2009, achieving the CSM designation. Peter is actively involved in the community serving on various not for profit organization boards such as L’Arche AntigonishAntigonish Emergency Fuel Fund and Arisaig Friends of the Park.

  Sandra (Kitty) Soroka, C.I.M., C.Mgr., CAM - New Brunswick Liaison
    Sandra is the Fredericton Office Manager of the regional law firm of Cox & Palmer and represents the New Brunswick offices on the regional operations committee.  Kitty is a graduate of the Business Management Program at the University of Calgary.  Kitty has over thirty years of experience in management, human resources, accounting and IT. Kitty was a member of the former Canadian Institute of Certified Managers since 1988.  She joined the Canadian Institute of Management in 2012.  She is also a member of the Association of Legal Administrators.
